When you say the prices do you mean this specific price:
Series Id: APU0000709112
Area: U.S. city average
Item: Milk, fresh, whole, fortified, per gal. (3.8 lit)
There are many options for “milk”
The combination you mention is exactly the one I intended. I have updated the market question to clarify that.
The government announces Consumer Price Index data in the middle of the following month. That means this market won’t cash out until around August 15 even though trading will end at the end of July.
The June price was $3.77, up a little over a penny from last month and up almost 35 cents from June 2007. In 8 of the last 12 years, the July price has been slightly higher than the June price.
Historical milk prices can be found at http://data.bls.gov/PDQ/outside.jsp?survey=ap. This market will cash out when the July 2008 numbers become available.
