How many Justices will Barack Obama appoint to the US Supreme Court?
PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS MARKET WILL MOST LIKELY STAY OPEN FOR AT LEAST 4 YEARS, MAYBE 8!
I will close out individual stocks as appointments are made, but this market will remain open until Obama is no longer President.
If Obama loses in 2012 or is removed from office, I will NOT leave the market open on the off chance that he would be reelected later. If Obama wins a second term in 2012, this market will remain open until he is out of office or nominates at least 9 justices to the Supreme Court.
If Obama appoints a Supreme Court justice who leaves the court so quickly for some reason that Obama appoints a replacement for that same justice, both will be counted (thus the theoretical option for more than 9 appointments).
There are at least three Supreme Court justices thought likely to retire in the next 4 years, all of whom are considered liberal, and may feel more comfortable retiring with a Democrat in the White House.
