Charlie Weis’s tenure at Notre Dame has been, ahem, less of a success than hoped. There have been rumors that Charlie is on his way out, particularly if Notre Dame loses agian to Navy on November 15th.
So, how long will Charlie last?
Notes:
“Fired/Resigned” includes failure to renew a contract, “promotion/demotion” to role other than head coach or “retirement” that is a smokescreen for “fire/resign” during the relevant period.
“Other” includes Charlie still being head coach after March 2010, retirement for permanent disability (unless credible reports indicate it is a smokescreen), or death.
“Date of firing or resignation” will be the date of the official announcement even if he serves out the remainder of the season.
I appreciate that the “retirement” possibility is somewhat subjective however, given age and circumstances, “retirement” is likely a euphemism for “fire/retire” absent a stroke or new diagnosis of a debilitating disease. I suspect it will be obvious.
Individual stocks will cash out as they become no longer viable. In other words, if Charlie is still head coach on December 1, 2008, November 2008 will cash out at 0 on December 1 (or as soon as I next have access to a computer).
