Bulgaria is expected to join the EU in 2007. Commission will review Bulgaria’s reform progress in October 2006 and will decide based on that review whether the originally scheduled January 2007 accession date is still feasible. If the reform progress is not fully completed the Commission will delay the accession date with one year.
