Most political commentators are calling Jim Whitehead the frontrunner in the race because he is the only candidate with elective experience, having served as state Senator. But Whitehead have come under significant criticism for his perceived flip-flopping on immigration, his comment that voters in the district are not concerned about the Iraqi War, and for a joke he made suggesting that the University of Georgia was full of a bunch of liberals and, except for the football team, someone ought to bomb it.
Looks like Whitehead won. Let’s close this market out!
He hasn’t won yet, since he didn’t get at least 50 percent of the vote, but it sure looks like he will win the run-off.
This market isn’t about the run-off. It’s clearly about the election on June 19th. Whitehead won that particular election. Are you going to wait until the runoff to close this market out??
Although it appears that Broun has won the election, we are delaying the payout until Whitehead offers a concession. At this point it still looks as if he will ask for a recount.
Has there been any word on if a recount is going to happen and when? Is there really a reason to delay payoff on this market?
Congressman Charlie Norwood, Jr. (R-GA) died 2/13/08 setting up a special election on June 19, 2007. If no candidate receives 50% of the vote on that day, the top two vote getters, regardless of party will meet in a special runoff election on July 17, 2007.
