The Tea Party is giving the Democrats a “fighting chance”. A certain senator from Kentucky must not be a happy camper today…

I know it’s only a primary, which tends to bring out more of the “fringe” part of the political wings, but for this to happen, is quite a shock! There are a lot of people P.O.’ed out there…

mvguy   •   Tue Sep 14 2010 at 07:39pm PDT

And some Democrats that are probably pretty happy.

Hugh Betcha   •   Tue Sep 14 2010 at 07:56pm PDT

Maybe… I’ll certainly concede that possibility because on the “surface” it appears as a “gift” to help the Dems keep a seat. However, look at Nevada; Sharron Angle was ridiculed as an inferior candidate when she won the primary but now recent polls show her in a dead heat, 45% Angle to 44% Reid. Who knows if she or O’Donnell will actually win in November but my point is simply it will be a hard-fought, bare-knuckled race all the way down to the wire, and not necessarily the slam-dunk, blowout some would expect as things stand today.

We’ll see but this one certainly looks like fringe Republicans snatching defeat out of the jaws of victory. Used to be that only the fringe Democrats engaged in the self immolation strategy. It’s now gone bi-partisan.

mvguy   •   Tue Sep 14 2010 at 09:06pm PDT

And as to Nevada … it was Angle’s victory that gave Reid a chance to keep his seat. It’s going to be a close race, however.

I’m waiting to see what Mike Castle will do now before I do anything with this market… I want to be absolutely sure.

SneakyPete   •   Wed Sep 15 2010 at 08:10am PDT

I really doubt that he will try and run as an indpendent or as Alaska Sen. Lisa Murkowski may and run as a write-in candidate. We shall see.

Well, Castle just got his ass handed to him by O’Donnell.
