Despite an early uptick on YES on Saturday, the market dropped to NO as voting took place on Sunday. A close one: 13.4% of the votes and 56 seats, but the crowd just missed it.

Although the MHP overcame the national election threshold of 10 percent by receiving 13.4 percent of the vote, support for the party had decreased when compared to the results of the 2007 general elections when the party received 14.7 percent of the vote and won 71 seats in Parliament. The MHP won 56 seats in Sunday’s general elections.

Voting ends in Turkey parliamentary elections
Counting under way in Turkey as incumbent prime minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s party hopes to win third straight term.
Media restrictions: The country’s electoral board, the YSK, has restricted media reporting until 9pm (18:00 GMT) on Sunday.
Parties need to win at least a 10 per cent share of the national vote to be elected to parliament.
Almost 85 per cent of eligible voters participated in the last elections in 2007.
