Does this count? Mvguy just emailed me to let me know that I made the top ten list over at CNN. Thank you, mv, for pointing it out!

Wow. Inkling deflation has hit this market hard in the last few weeks.

wstritt   •   Tue Dec 10 2013 at 05:48pm PST

At this point, it seems pretty much a lock that this will cash out ~1250/share on 12/31/15 but that is only 130% gain and you have to wait 2 years. Given you can close to double your money by year end, why bother. All of the date markets are all looking pretty sad right now.

job   •   Mon Aug 13 2012 at 12:11pm PDT

maybe you should close this market until the problem has been solved!

job   •   Sat Aug 11 2012 at 01:09pm PDT

It looks like that all dates are set 2 years ahead. What is going on here……

wstritt   •   Sat Aug 11 2012 at 01:41pm PDT

Yes. Seems like something bad happened when the market end date was reset to December 2015.

chelseaboys   •   Sat Aug 11 2012 at 03:57pm PDT

All I did was extend the close. . . Should I just re-set it back? Anybody remember what date it was? 10-31-12?

wstritt   •   Sat Aug 11 2012 at 05:32pm PDT

You might try that. October 31 sounds right though may have been 12/31/12. Pretty odd though. I thought you had already changed the expiration once before without incident. On the other hand, I seem to recall some other number market that imploded when a change was made a couple of years ago.

wstritt   •   Sat Aug 11 2012 at 09:02am PDT

CB – you never officially weighed in here on whether there will be an absolute market closing date or if the market will be extended in perpetuity if the other CB does not return to the top 5.

chelseaboys   •   Sat Aug 11 2012 at 10:07am PDT

Well, as job pointed out earlier, and as you have surely read, I said in the market info that I would extend the close as necessary.

Of course, my thinking was that it was an “eventuality” that the other CB would return to the Top 5. I can see now from some of the comments in the last couple months that we probably need a final close date should what I thought was a certainty never occur.

I’ll go with job’s suggested final date of the end of 2015. The way these marketswork, people will still be able to “predict” a date after that time; but they do it at their own risk.

Tom501   •   Sun Jun 10 2012 at 09:59pm PDT

The question now may be whether or not ChloeBurns can return to the top 5. If the current standings of the other individuals who left the top 5 to pursue massive shorting strategies than it is not a guarantee the Chloe could return to the top 5 if she wanted to. You may have to look at putting an end date on this market because it may not be achievable.

wstritt   •   Mon Jun 11 2012 at 04:05am PDT

Tom – you are probably right. You would know better but I don’t think Chloe played in your NBA scoring market which, once again, was a game changer from a net worth perspective though with the wealth spread out a bit more. But with the Inkles won there, absent change of accounting for the long term markets, I’m guessing Chloe is well behind the current top 5. That could change, of course, but highly unlikely any time soon.

job   •   Mon Jun 11 2012 at 07:46am PDT

I think Chloe will be well in a position to come back in the top 5. I also did not participate in the NBA scoring market and before going short Chloe was far ahead of me. So if Chloe is ending the short markets I think Chloe is again ahead of me and Chelseaboys!

job   •   Mon Jun 11 2012 at 12:17am PDT

What about 12 – 31 – 2015?? If at that date ChloeBurns did not return to the top 5, the question is paid out as if he returned in the top 5 at that end date.

MFWinAlford   •   Fri May 11 2012 at 12:14pm PDT

How can the prediction be beyond the end date?

job   •   Fri May 11 2012 at 12:20pm PDT

I will extend the close as necessary.
Thats what CB gives us as information below!

ecotax   •   Tue Jan 31 2012 at 10:58pm PST

The end date seems to be a bit early.

ChloeBurns   •   Thu Jan 05 2012 at 10:51am PST

It is my intention to establish a negative net worth and maintain that position until after the conclusion of job’s market What Will Each Player’s Rank Be as of May 1st? However, my strategy may change without warning. Bet with me, bet against me, it’s your choice.

wstritt   •   Fri Sep 02 2011 at 05:02pm PDT

The interesting question is what to do if Chloe starts buying.

ChloeBurns   •   Sun Sep 11 2011 at 05:43pm PDT

Done. I am now long 1000 shares.

wstritt   •   Sun Sep 11 2011 at 07:43pm PDT

Ah, now that’s the rub. I suppose we can take that as a signal that you are going to continue in your massive short/negative net worth strategy and all pile on but then risk you reversing your shorts while dumping your 1000 shares for whatever profit we give you propelling you back into the top 5 leaving the rest of us hanging out to dry….

Quite a dilemma since you are pretty much in total control of the outcome.

OK, I’ll play….
