Thanks! Fun markets, as always.

This came up in a past year and #1 was the way I handled it…

wstritt   •   Fri Apr 27 2012 at 08:51pm PDT

Out of curiosity, what happens if there is no one in third place at the appointed time? For example, if two teams are tied for second, technically, the next team is in fourth place rather than third.

wstritt   •   Fri Apr 27 2012 at 08:57pm PDT

I can see three alternatives – 1) the two teams that are tied for second are also tied for third so tie pays out at 100, 2) the two second place teams are treated as 1 team/ win % so the fourth place team is dreamed to be in third or 3) that possibility wasn’t contemplated so market will refund.

You may have answered the question on one of the other markets so sorry f it is repeat.

fwiw, I would vote for your (1) above (tie), although I do think that your first comment is correct. I have a feeling this has come up before; Garth has been doing these markets for a number of years now. But I can’t really remember. I suspect he used your (1) since I don’t ever remember a (3) refund, and your (2) to me just doesn’t cut it. Looks like there could be several ties this year on May 1!
