A sell would indicate the belief that something will come between Stephen Colbert and being the host of the Late Show. Like you said, it could be that Letterman changes his mind or that Colbert might not make the successful transition from satirical comic to the straight-faced, non-sarcastic host.

I don’t quite understand this. Is the bet that either Letterman will change his mind or delay his retirement? Right now word is that he leaves sometime in 2015 (which theoretically could be 12/31/2015). Even that would leave six months open. Is this also a bet that Colbert might back out or that he won’t last until June?
