According to Capital Weather Gang (whose forecasting models I’m familiar with at this point and think are generally pretty accurate), the snow won’t actually start until just after sunrise (so between 6 and 7am). I think the commute wouldn’t be too messy but this depends on how quickly snow accumulates. To this end, CWG is saying that peak snow fall will be in the afternoon so I’m wondering if it’s more likely that OPM closes everything early but remains open in the morning. People who have lived in DC longer might be more familiar with this type of scenario and can weigh in.

I’m upping my forecast on news that Fairfax County offices and public schools have already decided to close tomorrow.

"CWG predicts heavy snow between Wed evening through Thurs morning, if there is even a small accumulation with a strong probability of extending through morning work hours, OPM will likely play it safe and close."
